"THE EVIDENSE OF THE SENSES,"  by David Kelly
This book is a highly original defense of realism. David Kelly argues that perception is the discrimination of  objects as entities, that the awareness of these objects is direct, and that perception is a reliable foundation for empirical knowledge. Kelly's argument relies on the basic principle of the "primacy of existence," in opposition to Cartesian representation and Kantian idealism.  It is an easy read.

"INTRODUCTION TO OBJECTIVIST EPISTEMOLOGY,"  by Ayn Rand
Ayn Rand a defender of political freedom was totally misunderstood by the liberal press who has hated the concept of capitalism and its goal to profit. But people and press fail in reason and analysis, by not realizing that what they have today would not be possible without capitalism and the ability to profit.
Epistemology is the science of our senses and how we learn something, that is sorely needed to keep us from running thoughtlessly on our emotional feelings or when a politician says that dirty word, 'profit.'  Ayn Rand teaches us how to think, to analyze our perceptions, which we can define as emotion and intuition. It is following your head, rather than following your heart.  We must look beyond our perceptions to identify and classify and put our initial reaction to something in a reasonable perspective.
