WHAT IS PHILOSOPHY?
"DEFINING
PHILOSOPHY," can be best summed up as a place to argue any
science or social moral and value issue, i.e. a philosophical
discourse - a mental analysis. Here, we debate the scientific
discoveries and their suggested or real impact on society in
Metaphysics, Epistemology, or social issues, Morals, Values,
Government, and Aesthetics. Theories in any of the sciences are not
true until put in practice or made real by redefining and perhaps,
revising our behavior morally, and in our values while searching for
success, human happiness, and long life; the good.
The philosopher will advise us to obey the laws of nature in order
to survive and obey the laws of human nature. We have,
since the first pharaoh, lived under the yoke of religious slavery,
built their pyramids, and we surrendered our wealth. We lived
according to their ethic of altruism where poverty was an ethical
ideal in which morals and values had no meaning.
"DEFINING
PHILOSOPHY," begins with what makes it philosophy? What
is our understanding when we use the word philosophy. Philosophy is a
concept and by itself the study of the reality of survival, to the
exclusion of any deity or spiritualism. That is basis of the conflict
between religion and philosophy. Philosophy does not argue for the
existence of gods, nor do theologians argue for the concerns that
face people who obey nature's laws to the exclusion of
science. Theology's imaginary argument has no grounding in
reality or fact. Theology is the analysis of ones imaginary
constructs, ideas, what might be, what may be, what should be, but
usually is what one wants it to be. There is no proof a god exists,
we only have a theology(a derivative of theory).
This is
not to be confused with where one imagines the bringing together real
entities in reality that creates and produces inventions. Their final
concepts are drawn from natures laws the product of their imagination
is about perceptions of real things. The theologian who
finalizes an idea ends up with a ghost of what cannot ever be real.
Such people lie to themselves and don't have to think just
imagine. There is no room or reason for the dishonesty
exemplified in theoretical theology. God is a theological concept, a
theory, yet to be proven.
"Defining Philosophy," is where we will investigate
discoveries and invention to measure its impact on our philosophy.
For an example, if in Metaphysics there was a significant advance in
the genetic field of science reported, there will be a reasoned
philosophical beneficial impact on society by its author. An example
is, say, stem cell research, the philosopher cannot deny there may be
abuse but to ban a science is not productive for our existence.
The philosopher shows the way to overcome abuse and define the
overriding benefit of all discoveries. We may take issue with the
philosopher's evaluation at any time. Every science here will be
subject to the same welcomed scrutiny, because our goal is survival,
goodness and justice. There is no room or reason for the
dishonesty exemplified in theoretical theological theology. God, a
theological concept, is a theory, yet to be proven. Its
political counterpart is theocratic. Religious tenets, commandments
or canon law of absolute power over peoples values becomes
totalitarian and as a concomitant of power always deteriorates into coruption.
Philosophy today may go wrongly in the direction of Fascism or
socialism as a means of goverance, and its principles as in a
theocracy are based on altruism not unlike a theocracy. The
socialization of the United States is prograssing at an alarming pace
from Fascism to socialism and well on its way to becomming a
socialist totalitarian government. Most academic philosophers support
the views anyone and have no philosophy to help create a free
society. Today they are irrelevant in their own institutions, and do
not know what their academic languid verbiage means. They have
ignored the people and cater to the ruling elite that uses them for
their purposes.
We call it "Defining Philosophy" because that is precisely
the goal of the philosopher and people struggling to survive among
scaming dishonest people on earth. Citizens and the philosophers must
define their terms. The most important weapon we have in that respect
is the dictionary - and always ask in any kind of discusion,
"What do you mean by that?" And that good book should
be in reach of when you read. Defining is the work of the
philosopher as well as the meaningful theoretical strings of words
called sentences; or, "What did you say?" The trick
is never think the word is what you think it means, or correct in the
context of the sentence. The people have never received a
philosophy from academia.
Only one nonacademic philosopher has, Nicola's, "The Philosophy
of Morals & Values."
We
will be defining philosophy in the six sciences.
Metaphysics: The study of reality.
Epistemology:
The scienceof how we learn, something that every teacher
should know and teach their children, to know how his brain
functions, how to apprehend reality.
Morals: The Moral Code and how we should eliminate ethics and its
designed purpose to confuse the separate issues of morals and values.
Values: We have a moral right to own what we earn. We are free to
chose our individual values and establish and control our cultures
free of government intervention.
Government: Moral Government is the key; that moral state
would be a Promotean government that would promote values but never
provide any tangible material values for the people. Taxation of
all peoples earnings would be prohibited. but types of voluntary
taxation may be permitted.
"The
Philosophy of Morals & Values," has made self evident,
"The Moral Code," of what is right and correct in our
behavior. It has given us the framework for our own humane hierarchy
of values, of which no person, ruler, or government has a moral right
to infringe upon, and when they do they are wrong, illegal, and
immoral. Our philosophy is no longer mired down in the swamp of
ethic's grey issues where right and wrong is indefinable and where
our earned values belong to others. .
Each division or science will have its own display page for articles
and held there for the public to read. Those who wish to rebut, give
another view, or take issue in any way as a dialog, will be also
published and you hold the copyrights for all your work. Finally, all
articles pro and con will eventually occupy the division's archive.
All articles will be displayed on our web pages and then stored in
the archive with the author's name and e-mail address and credit
line, ex. for permanent storage and retrieval if they choose to, and
may take their work somewhere else to be published. |

Defining Philosophy: We invite anyone to make themselves heard. We
need your works, for E-Books, the Philo-Psy Newsletter, and your
"Comments of the week." Below are only a few suggestions of
issues a writer may have an interest.
There is one caveat on this site in thinking about philosophy and
that is we do not care to have whole articles cretiqueing the bible
or religions as a theme, subject, view point or focus. We become
philosophers promoting, furthering, creating theories, making
discoveries, reporting, and teaching to understand philosophy
and the real world and the universe around us. References in a
comparative sense is fine and should be well researched and
references listed but we are dealers in reality. The reason is
philosophically we must take the scientific view that theoretically
there is no supporting empirical evidence that a supranatural being
exists, but is only a theory yet to be proved. And since they are
making the claim (a theory), the onus of proof is upon he/she who
makes the claim. We have no obligation to prove that he is not
there, for there is nothing (a negative) to prove there that we may
sense. Beyond that, their writings have no basis in fact and a waste
of effort to pursue on behalf of philosophers.
Your Writing:
You
may start by reviewing books, nonfiction or fiction.
Try
discourses on philosophy' sciences, philosophers and authors of philosophy.
Ancient Philosophers - What was their philosophy?
Why? Etc.?
Renaissance Philosophers.
Modern Philosophers - What have we learned? What do we practice?
Submit studies on secular Buddhism, Confucianism and other
nonreligious .
We
need works on anything, concerning established or proposed philosophies.
Write on any subject within your career that you think has a
philosophical impact on
society or cultures.
Just as a good novelist draws on personal experience, so does all non-fictional
philosophers and that may be anyone.
Whatever you have, send them in and we will be grateful for your effort. |
